Collecting three points in Bursa26 September 2020
Having been the guest of Nilüfer in Bursa, the team has closed fifth week of the Turkish League by a 3-0 win.
Despite the hosting team’s quick start to the match, Tigers quickly took the lead with the help of Tijana Boskovic and Jordan Thompson’s unstoppable attacks. Showing a collective block performance in the first set which we won by 25-17, we scored 6 block points in total, three of them belonging to Tijana Boskovic.
In the second set, the team kept showing dominance in block and that led us to a 25-17 win. Middle blockers Chiaka Ogbogu and Beyza Arıcı made an important contribution by scoring 3 points each. The team didn’t give a chance to the opponent in the third set which we won by 25-17.
Not only Tijana Boskovic’s classy points and the Tigers ‘block party’ as whole team, but also the stunning reception performance of our captain and libero Simge Aköz belong to the highlights of the match.
While Tijana Boskovic scored a total of 24 points today, the Oranges and Whites did 17 blocks in total.
Libero Simge Aköz scored 92% positive reception in 13 attempts and that has been her career-high reception performance.
In the sixth week of the league the team will play with PTT at home next Tuesday, Sep. 29.
Marco Motta: “We did a very good job in block and serve. Also we had a high attack percentage. I am very satisfied with the performance of my players today. During the game we almost made no mistakes."
Tijana Boskovic: “Especially in block we did a very good job. We knew that we were playing with a strong opponent. We had to stay very focused from the beginning until the end. I think that was our best performance of the season so far."
Chiaka Ogbogu: “We were aware that Nilüfer is a tough opponent. We need to reach this level of focus at each match we play. Our block performance was also a result of our concentration. We won by showing a dominant performance from the beginning until the end."
