The First Week of VNL 2025 is Completed

A 4-for-4 performance from the Sultan of the Net

Our National Women's Volleyball Team drew attention with the successful results it achieved in the first week of the FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2025. Our team, which defeated France 3-1, Thailand 3-0, and Poland and China 3-2 in the first leg in Beijing, China, finished the week in 3rd place with 10 points.

Our team scored a total of 394 points, and stood out with its blocking performance.

Deniz Uyanık is the athlete who blocked the most in the China leg with 13 blocks; Alexia Karutasu became the highest scorer in the first week of VNL 2025 by scoring 91 points in 4 matches.

The Sultans of the Net will face the Dominican Republic, Canada, South Korea and Brazil at the Istanbul Sinan Erdem Sports Hall on June 18-22, 2025 in the second week of VNL 2025.

Our new opposite hitter Magdalena Stysiak, who was the 11th player in the first week, led the Polish National Team to a 3-0 victory against Thailand and Belgium, and a 3-1 victory against China.

Our new middle blocker Emily Maglio won the first leg of VNL 2025 with Canada, winning 3-2 against Bulgaria and Serbia; and losing 3-0 to Japan and 3-1 to the Netherlands.

• Yaprak Erkek: 42 attacks, 1 block, 1 ace — 44 points in total

• Dilay Özdemir: 3 attacks, 4 blocks, 1 ace — 8 points in total

• Elif Şahin: 2 attacks, 2 blocks, 1 ace — 5 points in total

• Simge Aköz: 28 saves (%63.64), 57% positive reception

• Magdalena Stysiak: 56 attacks, 3 blocks, 1 ace — 60 points in total

• Emily Maglio: 24 attacks, 9 blocks, 1 serve — 34 points in total
