Tigers Complete the Second Week of the VNL

The Turkish Women’s National Volleyball Team completed the second week of the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL) undefeated, winning all four matches played in Ankara. Türkiye defeated Belgium and France 3–0, while overcoming Germany and China 3–2, finishing the week with a perfect 4–0 record and retaining the top spot in the standings.

Throughout the second week, our outside hitter Yaprak Erkek stood out with her offensive contribution, recording 21 attack points and 1 block point to rank among the team’s leading scorers. Setter Elif Şahin successfully orchestrated the team’s offense while contributing 8 attack points, 2 aces, and 1 block point.

Our new signings ahead of the 2025–2026 season also delivered impressive performances. Japan National Team captain Mayu Ishikawa contributed 51 attack points and 1 block point, while Italy’s star opposite hitter Ekaterina Antropova impressed with 38 attack points, 10 aces, and 2 block points.

Germany National Team captain Camilla Weitzel recorded 31 attack points, 11 block points, and 3 aces, while young Serbian outside hitter Aleksandra Uzelac added 19 attack points and 2 aces.

American middle blocker Dana Rettke demonstrated her effectiveness at the net with 11 attack points and 10 block points, making a significant contribution to the team’s defensive strength.

On the other hand, our national team player Ebrar Karakurt, who is recovering from an injury, and our new transfer, Bulgarian national team opposite hitter Iva Dudova, were not included in their respective national team rosters for the second week of competition.

The Turkish Women’s National Team will take the court in Kansai, Japan, for the third week of the 2026 VNL, scheduled for 8–12 July 2026. Türkiye will face host nation Japan, as well as Poland, the United States, and Thailand.

Eczacıbaşı Sports Club has signed a three-year naming rights sponsorship agreement with Peron İstanbul. As part of the partnership, beginning with the 2026–2027 season, the club's senior women's volleyball team will compete under the name Eczacıbaşı Peron İstanbul for the next three seasons in the Vodafone Sultanlar League, as well as in European and World competitions.
